A TREASURE TROVE OF UNDERGROUND ELECTRONIC MUSIC

Jonah K

Known aliases: The Kraken, Dickard (of the Legendary Dickard and Bobert)
Last known whereabouts: Toronto
Web presence: teknotribes.com, reverbnation.com/jonahk

The basics:
Drawing inspiration from other-worldly experiences and the dim reaches of the sub-conscious, Jonah K’s bass-driven music resonates with the darker, faster, less conventional rhythms of the electronic scene. Fusing heavy delays, eerie melodies and growling arpeggiated synthesis with middle eastern influences and syncopated rhythms, it infiltrates both the mind and the dancefloor.

Never fully at home in the commercial club scene, Jonah performs primarily at outdoor festivals, underground warehouse parties and spontaneous renegade sound systems. The more unusual the environment the better. Nevertheless, Jonah has played throughout North America, the Middle East and Asia alongside many great artists, such as Deadbeat, Trace, Shpongle, Bassnectar, D-Nox and Midimilliz (to name just a small few).

Jonah has also organized parties in Toronto for the last decade and has worked extensively with the Om Summer Solstice Festival and the Om Reunion Project, directing Drum n Bass sound villages/stages since 2002. He is currently a resident DJ, artist and bus mechanic with the Suma (formerly Sumkidz) collective and is finishing an epic new album.
